It seems a bit early for our first Rose and I should really have taken this picture earlier in the day as the extremely weather has meant the petals are already threatening to fall off but here is the first rose for the year, hopefully the first of many. I’m sure the roots are in the drain. It’s been here a long time and does so well
I don’t need many words to describe these really but just to say I love white flowers and this white clematis is definitely my favourite of the ones we have in our garden
In my blog I tend to focus on the positives in my garden and what I have grown successfully, you would be excuses therefore for thinking everything I grow turns out well. However, you’d actually be wrong. I have been trying to grow echinacea, also known on coneflower for a number of years and have killed 11 or 12. They just don’t appear to want to grow a second year and when they do they don’t flower again. I have been successful with one, but the garden was built over and I moved the plant and yes it died. I’ve tried yellow, pink, orange, white, a two toned one, one in a pot (it got eaten before I planted it). You might think I should give up, but I love the plant and it goes well with my attempt at growing a cottage garden. So I have a new one (see below), I’ve done a little research, it likes a sunny position in nice soil and some space around it. I’ve put slug pellets down (please don’t shout if you like slugs, I don’t want my plants eating) and given it a support to grow up. I’ll let you know how I get on.
