My passion in life is gardening and specifically growing flowers from seed

Winter/ Spring 2023

Sorry folks it’s longer since I last blogged than I thought. I haven’t really done much in the garden lately other than a little tidying. There’s always tidying to be done. However, I have been taking pictures when new bulbs/ flowers start appearing so I thought I’d share those with you

First hellebore of 2023

This my third attempt at posting this, maybe it’ll get through this time.

One of my hellebores has started to flower this weekend. It’s not looking very healthy though and I understand it’s not cureable. The plant should be dug up and disposed of as it can spread to other hellebores. It’s such a shame as it’s a pretty delicate flower that brings some much needed colour to the garden at this otherwise dead-ish season in the garden

Wordless Wednesday- snowy & frosty morning

Poinsettia

This poinsettia has been very much neglected as I’m not very good with houseplants and yet here it is with the desired red leaves at the correct time of year. This somewhat amuses me as the gardeners would say I need to put it in a darkened place, refuse it water and eventually it’ll produce the red leaves and yet having done none of this (it sits on the windowsill all year) round it’s happily performed for me.

Daphne and Hellebore flowering

Daphne flowering and apparently smelling lovely too!
First hellebore to flower this year

Wordless Wednesday- wallflowers

Wordless Wednesday- daphne

Wordless Wednesday- still flowering in the greenhouse

Clematis

I don’t need many words to describe these really but just to say I love white flowers and this white clematis is definitely my favourite of the ones we have in our garden

Camellia Debbie – flowering

I planted this in the ground last year after having it in a pot since 2016 and then overwintering in the greenhouse each year. So this year is the first time it’s Peres since it’s new position and it’s so pretty. I originally bought it for a garden I was doing at one of my rental properties but couldn’t bring myself to part with it.
