Iris
I don’t remember them being this small but it’s likely that I’ve forgotten! It’s lovely to see new things coming into flower especially in this stormy weather. Fortunately apart from one branch falling off a tree we’ve not really been affected

I thought they had rotted or been eaten but I should have remembered that plants/bulbs in my northern garden are never as far ahead as the south. So I’m very pleased to have found some flowering when I was out just now tidying up again. I keep thinking I’ve finished tidying but I don’t think I ever will. It’s a bit cold for me really (not good for my chest) but I was glad to be outside. I really miss it in winter. So here are the snowdrops I’ve found. A bit small I know but better than nothing and I’m definitely going to get more next year

Happy new year everyone! It seems to have come round so quickly! Just sharing a photo of our witch hazel plant that’s in bud – I love seeing things in bud. This is the best picture I could get

We’ve finally decorated our first tree, it’s artificial but I really like it! We also have a Christmas cactus in flower. Pictures below.
Wishing all my readers a lovely Christmas and happy new year. Thanks for following this year!

Apologies first of all for my lack of blog posts lately, life has just been too busy. However, apart from more leave collection and compost spreading (I thought I’d finished but the heap fell over) the garden is ready for winter.
This morning it’s very frosty and looks quite pretty, not sure my pictures do it justice though.

Roses and calicarpa
For the complete lack of blogging recently. I’ve been very busy working and not in the garden come to that, although I have done most of my tidying up jobs. Just a few left and the dahlias to bring into the greenhouse (which I haven’t even got round to cleaning yet). Here is a picture of Calicarpa currently flowering in my garden. I think this is its best year yet. In the background is a dogwood
