My passion in life is gardening and specifically growing flowers from seed

Happy New year 2025

We’ve woken to snow for the 3rd day running which is unusual here really. It’s quite pretty and is still coming down but I hate driving in it or in fact even going outside. Young Wendy would be singing ‘so do you want to build a snowman’ by now. Older scared Wendy says no thanks, let me know when it’s gone!

Happy Christmas 2024

Hi folks, sorry for the silence. I’ve been keeping my socials updated more than my blog recently as it’s often easier to post pictures without thinking what to say to go along side them. I’ve also noticed the more words I write here the less views the posts get. Anyway, except for much leaf collecting still to be done the garden is pretty clear and ready for winter. I even noticed a Delphinium shooting up out of the ground – I’m guessing the weather has been confusing matters slightly. It’s been a pretty mild start to winter albeit rather wet at times.

I’ve decorated our artificial trees, this is my favourite one with more pretty decorations. The other is much smaller and has the old family favourites.

Thank for your support, views, likes and comments. I hope you have an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas and happy New Year. I endeavour to keep this updated more next year

RHS Tatton Park Flower Show 2024

I had a lovely afternoon at the Tatton flower show this afternoon with my friend. The last time it’ll be in this location until 2027! I only bought one plant as I didn’t really want to carry much – a hardy Salvia. I took lots of pictures and here’s some of them.

Helenium

I can’t believe I’ve not posted this before as it’s just a great plant with lovely flowers and pretty easy going! It’s planted alongside Penstemon and a pink Astrania which I have actually dug out but is still there.
