Spring 2024 in my garden

I start once again with an apology for the radio silence. To be honest I’ve done very little proper gardening until this week due to my availability and weather not matching up well.

I did finally get my sweetpeas planted out this week and a few other things from the greenhouse. I’ve also done a lot of weeding and tidying. I didn’t know I had so many weeds til I started looking! I’ve also redone my hanging basket. I even managed to kill the ivy last season by lack of watering (I think). I have, however, taken lots of pictures of the garden so I’ll share a few here.

April 2023

I can’t believe it’s April already although I have to say I love the lighter evenings and driving home in the light even when I finish late and I love the sense of expectancy in the garden and seeing new things flowering every day. I have done a little weeding and some seed sowing but have lots more work to be done in the coming days. For now I leave you with pictures of what’s currently looking good in my garden

Cherry tree blossom

Apple Blossom

I wish I could tell you it smells nice but my sense of smell has evaded me as I currently have COVID- I hope it returns soon as I love growing scented plants in the garden and I would like to smell them!

Magnolias

I’m cheating again slightly here as the second picture isn’t actually of a tree in my garden but is so pretty I could t resist including it here

Blossom on the Almond tree (I think)

Cherry tree

I had a lot of trouble taking this picture, I wanted the cherry tree to be the centre of attention and avoid the compost heap, washing line, shed and too much of the big tree at the back. So here’s my best attempt, here’s hoping for more than 6 cherries this year and that we get them before the birds. We tried to cover it one year which meant the birds couldn’t get the cherries but neither could I and it didn’t look very nice!

Spring in my Cheshire garden

This is my favourite time of year when everything is growing, blossoming and the evenings are lighter longer every day but it’s not hot. I am not a fan of extremes of weather, whether hot or cold!

I have sweetpea and cosmos seeds coming up in the greenhouse and more to sow.

Here is what’s currently flowering/ blossoming in my garden. Including a forsythia, camellia and magnolia.
