Happy Valentine’s Day

I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day for reasons we go into here but I do love red roses so here’s some we cut off one from our garden when pruning a rose last autumn

June 2020 in my garden

Lots of plants flowering at the moment, in fact properly something different starts each day. The soil seems dry again even after so much rain but at least the water butts are full! I went out weeding yesterday and was excited to find some more spaces in the garden which means o can buy more plants. Still only online for me! Anyway here’s some pictures of what’s currently flowering

Sweetpeas grown from seed I’ve collected over several years so therefore I have no idea what variety but they smell lovely
Mock orange, it has a scent but not one I like. However, I love the white flowers
Geranium grown from a cutting in case the original died which fortunately it didn’t. I gave the original a harsh pruning in the winter and then kept it in the greenhouse overwinter but it looks great for the treatment it’s endured!

Roses 2020

My roses have been looking very beautiful up until now. However, we are desperate for rain so I won’t complain about it!

First roses of the season

I was feeling quite left out seeing lots of pictures online of roses flowering but tonight I’ve noticed ours are too! Hoorah. The first is called ‘hot chocolate’ and is relatively new with a gorgeous scent, not of chocolate I have to say. Good job as I’d want to eat it! But I really don’t see the point of roses without scent!

This last one is also relatively new and called Nostalgia. Again with a lovely scent and it’s not quite out yet but has lots of lovely new growth
