Happy New year 2025

We’ve woken to snow for the 3rd day running which is unusual here really. It’s quite pretty and is still coming down but I hate driving in it or in fact even going outside. Young Wendy would be singing ‘so do you want to build a snowman’ by now. Older scared Wendy says no thanks, let me know when it’s gone!

First camellia of 2024

It’s started a bit earlier than some years and hopefully won’t be put off by sudden cold spell

First Hellebore of 2024

First snow of 2024

I was not expecting to wake up to this today. We don’t get that much snow in my village, so if we do it tends to mean the higher ground around here will be thickly covered. I love looking at the snow on the garden but hate driving in it after a bad experience one winter when the main roads weren’t even gritted

RHS Glow at RHS Bridgewater Garden, Salford

Last night my friend and I went to the RHS garden in Salford for their Christmas light trail. Fortunately it wasn’t actually raining although a bit cold. I thought it was very well done and very pretty. I have been a couple of times before so recognised some of the different gardens even in the dark. Here are a few of my pictures

Snowdrops already

It seems a little early but the first of my snowdrops are flowering in my garden today

Winter colour

My garden is very wet at the moment due to so much rain. I did manage to finish most of my tidying up jobs so the garden is ready for winter. I have a bit of a winter colour still so here are some pictures

Winter/ Spring 2023

Sorry folks it’s longer since I last blogged than I thought. I haven’t really done much in the garden lately other than a little tidying. There’s always tidying to be done. However, I have been taking pictures when new bulbs/ flowers start appearing so I thought I’d share those with you

First hellebore of 2023

This my third attempt at posting this, maybe it’ll get through this time.

One of my hellebores has started to flower this weekend. It’s not looking very healthy though and I understand it’s not cureable. The plant should be dug up and disposed of as it can spread to other hellebores. It’s such a shame as it’s a pretty delicate flower that brings some much needed colour to the garden at this otherwise dead-ish season in the garden

Happy New Year 2023

Thank you for following my gardening journey last year and here’s hoping for another good year in the garden in 2023. It starts with a little flooding in the front due to too much rain at once. However, I do have snowdrops flowering already. A bit early I think as I don’t think they are early flowerers but I’m not sure and my hellebores buds are coming up too
