My passion in life is gardening and specifically growing flowers from seed

Early April in my garden

I’m just dropping in today to show what’s currently flowering in my garden. It’s different every day at the moment and I love this season where everything is hopefully coming up after the winter rest. It’s mostly been a bit too cold for me to much gardening lately but today I managed a stint. I planted a new delphinium King Arthur which is bright purple I think and a bright pink geranium but not together. I also sowed some seeds in the greenhouse and am attempting to grow roses from cuttings I’d cut flowers that I gave mum for Mother’s Day. Might not work but I’m having a go anyway. I’ve noticed that we’ve had little rain (no complaints – we’ve had a very wet winter) here for a few days so I’ve had to start watering the new plants and containers. So here’s my pictures of what’s currently flowering in the back garden.

Fritillary flowers
Lonely little tulip in the garden, I’m not not sure the variety but every year I buy new tulips for pots and the ones that haven’t performed well get planted in the garden so I think this is one of those!
New scabious planted out last week

Wordless Wednesday- anemone

Pictures from my lovely sunny garden in Cheshire

Magnolia just started flowering this week
Lonely little hyacinth in the front garden
Pretty pansies waiting for the tulips in the pot to flower. Looks like someone has been eating them though…

Some pictures from my garden – March 2020

I’m so glad of my garden right now and the enjoyment I get from it. I don’t want to think to read any more about this virus right now so am posting some pictures from my garden. As long as you want to see them I will likely be doing more of this as I’m home more. I apologise they aren’t great quality. One of my plans for this year is to learn how to better photos but I guess it might be a while off yet

Wordless Wednesday- more camellias

Camellia Debbie – flowering

I planted this in the ground last year after having it in a pot since 2016 and then overwintering in the greenhouse each year. So this year is the first time it’s Peres since it’s new position and it’s so pretty. I originally bought it for a garden I was doing at one of my rental properties but couldn’t bring myself to part with it.

Rode Hall visit 2020

For my birthday this year mum, daddy and I went to Rode Hall in Cheshire to see the snowdrops and other flowering plants and shrubs. I’d said that as long as there was no snow I was happy to go. However, it was very cold! The snowdrops and hellebores didn’t disappoint though and I have a few pictures for you.

Wordless Wednesday- Early February in my garden

Daphne

Iris

I don’t remember them being this small but it’s likely that I’ve forgotten! It’s lovely to see new things coming into flower especially in this stormy weather. Fortunately apart from one branch falling off a tree we’ve not really been affected

Snowdrops at last

I thought they had rotted or been eaten but I should have remembered that plants/bulbs in my northern garden are never as far ahead as the south. So I’m very pleased to have found some flowering when I was out just now tidying up again. I keep thinking I’ve finished tidying but I don’t think I ever will. It’s a bit cold for me really (not good for my chest) but I was glad to be outside. I really miss it in winter. So here are the snowdrops I’ve found. A bit small I know but better than nothing and I’m definitely going to get more next year
