Early April in my garden
by Wendy Syddall
I’m just dropping in today to show what’s currently flowering in my garden. It’s different every day at the moment and I love this season where everything is hopefully coming up after the winter rest. It’s mostly been a bit too cold for me to much gardening lately but today I managed a stint. I planted a new delphinium King Arthur which is bright purple I think and a bright pink geranium but not together. I also sowed some seeds in the greenhouse and am attempting to grow roses from cuttings I’d cut flowers that I gave mum for Mother’s Day. Might not work but I’m having a go anyway. I’ve noticed that we’ve had little rain (no complaints – we’ve had a very wet winter) here for a few days so I’ve had to start watering the new plants and containers. So here’s my pictures of what’s currently flowering in the back garden.

Love the Fritillary (my favourite) and then tulip is so delicate and pretty. My tulips are “nowhere near” – think they will be flowering in September at this rate – do you think the bulbs are “past their best”? I think they are only 2/3 years old though.
Been in the garden myself this afternoon – the garden bin has been emptied and the last of the silver birch tree debris has gone, hence I thought it time to do some overdue weeding. However that encouraged Nigel to come out and he got us cutting back a buddlea tree at the front – it looks much neater but my weeding has hardly got started and the bin is nearly full again. The soil is so dry here that weeding is really hard work, so I don’t mind getting diverted from that.
Hence this gardener needs a shower before I start the dinner preparations, so this is short but wishing you a good weekend – guess, you will be doing Church “on-line” again this week – Easter coming too – what a shame.
Sending all love – stay safe.
