I have to dig mine up each year and have found they are really fussy about how much sun they want in order to bloom. The ones that get a few hours of shade have no buds while the ones I’ve squeezed into a full sun area have quite a few. I need more sun. 🙂
Heated greenhouse? Now, you have my gardening envy at warp speed. 🙂 The ones blooming now were gifts from a local friend. I bought expensive ones in WA while visiting my SIL who has a dahlia garden that boggles my mind. None of them did anything here, and I lost them all the first winter storage.
Beautiful! Those of us who attempt to grow dahlias know how important each bloom is, and we savor each one. 🙂

Thanks Judy. It’s a bit late to start this year but I’m always surprised to see if it makes through winter each year

I grow mine in pots that spend winter in the heated greenhouse and still it’s touch and go each year whether they’ll return or not

We only heat it when it’s very cold!
